Writing in the Age of AI — my plan to start writing again

I stopped writing

I stopped writing around six months ago as I got busy with work and a little lazy.

Starting to write again was difficult as information is not easily accessible with AI, and I couldn’t justify my articles. I’ve drafted and archived quite a few articles.

As a beginner, I spent a lot of time iterating every step of writing an article—from planning and writing to editing and doubting myself—and I always ended up more confused and disappointed.

But why?

Making a proper plan is difficult and time-consuming. I like to follow the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

Two things stop me from writing — the topic and the effort.

Looking up information for a personalized question is easier than ever with AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Perplexity.

The increased use of generative AI has also led to loads of generic content about every topic imaginable. I couldn’t justify writing and publishing some of my articles.

I overthink and overcomplicate the entire writing process, which leads to many iterations and, ultimately, scrapping the article.

The plan

I believe I can start and keep writing if I overcome these issues. Here’s the plan: write more personal content and shorter articles.

I will focus on writing more experience-based articles while experimenting with other types of content.

I will keep the article length to around 2–3 read minutes. This will help me write short, simple, and quick articles. I will also target completing an article within 2 or 3 days.

Will it work?

I don’t know. And that’s the fun with experiments — I don’t have any expectations; I want to write to share my thoughts and knowledge.

I don’t have any solid plans or milestones; it’s just a jump-start to my writing journey.

Hello there. Thank you for reading the article. I hope you like it. Please consider leaving a clap or two if you liked this article and follow to see if this experiment works.
